I think they should keep the d core intact.......so what if they give up the lead in almost every game. Its working.......so what if 4 of the 6 dmen wouold be 7th or 8th dmen on any other team...

The main issues are Hickey and Donovan, they get cought a lot and im already tired of donovan.

The Sabres have an excess of D-men and a goalie.

100% DISAGREE.
Donovan's play against Boston was fantastic. Hickey has been arguably our most steady and postionally sound dman over the last several games. I'd point a finger at Amac and Carkner waaaaay before Hickey. Amac has been a turnover machine and terrible in his own zone. The combo of Amac and Hamonic has been brutal as Hamonic is in desperate need of a more dependable partner.

Carkner doesn't belong on NHL ice

Amac has been over played and as a result making mistakes.......hickey, physically cannot contain nhl size forwards, positionally sound or not, guys get around him EVERY game. Carkner is just brutal, and donovan is too young to be puttibg in these minutes. This defense will not win you games......it must be addressed, otherwise this team is going nowhere

Exactly...he belongs in the AHL
Amac belongs in a bottom pairing role. Unfortunatley I don't think we have a top pairing dman on this team. I'd prefer Hamonic and Vis as our second pairing, Amac and Hickey as out bottom pairing with Donovan as #7. We need two guys to slide into that top pairing role. Eventually Reinhart and Pullock should be those guys, but we're a ways off from their impact.

As for Hickey, I don't agree. Hickey definitely needs to add a few lbs of muscle but he actually plays with an edge probably more than anyone not named Hamonic on our defense. He's certainly not close to our worst dman.

At the NHL level, you need guys to come in every night and perform. The isles have too many guys on the backend that cannot perform on a nightly basis. i see the upside of hickey.....but winning teams dont go with guys who might be good one day. Every game this year, hickey gets outmuscled, or guys get around him one on one......EVERY GAME. yes he plays hard, but he along with a few others arent getting it done

Both have improved quite a bit as of late. I'd think Nabby has been the biggest issue lately. Very soft goals.

Actually Hickey surprises me quite often with just how strong he is. The problem is that every game ALL of our defensemen get outmuscled, even Hamonic.

Sick of hearing this. He's made some of his most brutal mistakes in the first ten minutes of the game. He could play ten minutes a night he'd still suck.

Agreed, he has been one of our best Dmen but he still isn't great. That's how bad our defense is.

Washington is a good team and Oates definitely figured something out between the first and second period. Capuano is still letting them play the constant attack style and have them learn from their mistakes which is ok.

I think their problem is they take their foot off the gas when the have their foot on the other teams throat. That and they just stop playing their game. Forecheck just disappears in the neutral zone before it even starts. They aren't playing with the confidence they had last year. Not yet at least.

This is a young team and I agree, especially when there is not alot of dimension in their game except to play hard. Capuano said last season that he wants them to be a quick skilled team when they're within fifteen feet of the net. Also factor in all of the new players. Like what Washington has done and I think Weight brings the same coaching insight that Oates brings.

With all of the momentum from BOS game they should have gone with Poulin but Nabokov is getting paid the big bucks to play most of the games which is ridiculous, especially on a one year contract.
